This Special Edition G2 was made in 2017, and it proudly features Riversong's Active Body System and revolutionary Neck-Thru design. To be clear, the Riversongs aren't like anything else out there; their unique technology allows you to dial in electric-like playability on an acoustic guitar. With a simple adjustment of a hex key on the back, you can adjust the neck angle to lower or raise the action. The intonation is spot on, and the string tension feels way more slinky. The Riversong concept is fascinating!
In addition to the unique technology, the G2 Series features all-Canadian hardwoods that are certified sustainable. This 2017 Special G2 sports a gorgeous flame maple top that is finished in a washed-out Red sunburst. The back and sides are Walnut, and the bracing is skeletized to minimize weight and maximize sound. On the bass side, it has a sound port that surrounds the player with sound—it's a cool experience that allows you to more accurately hear the output and projection of the instrument. While this Riversong is a great-sounding guitar, sure, what really sets it apart is the playability. Because you can dial it in the setup so precisely, it feels like a more expressive, versatile instrument with a lot of range. When you can play with ease, that brings out the best sound from the instrument, too.
This 2017 Riversong Special Edition G2 shows some minor play wear, but it is in excellent condition all around (see photos). The frets are pristine, but there is evidence of fret sprout on the edges of the fingerboard from dry conditions. It has a factory-installed Fishman pickup with discrete side-mounted controls. Because of the sound port, changing the battery is easy and you don't have to remove the strings. This Riversong includes a brown Taylor gig bag. This guitar isn't like anything else in the shop!
