This Bourgeois 00-12 shows the perfect balance of fine materials, creativity, and top notch workmanship. It is an artfully crafted, one-of-a-kind instrument that will inspire your music like no other guitar. "The Coupe" design combines a shorter 12-fret neck with the square shoulders and dimensions of a 14-fret body. The result makes the nut easier to reach, but it also locates the bridge at the widest section of the lower bout. This drives the top from a more efficient location, so you get more bottom end, quicker response, more openness, and more sustain at lower volumes.
One of our favorite options from Bourgeois is "Panama Red"—Aged Tone Adirondack top and Panama Rosewood back and sides. Any fan of Peter Rowan and bluegrass music knows the fateful story of Panama Red. Here's a wonderful combination of fine woods inspired by the spirit of that classic song. Panama Rosewood shows a lighter burnt orange coloring, and it offers superb resonance and a tone profile similar to Brazilian Rosewood or Cocobolo.
This Bourgeois 00-12 was constructed with Animal Protein glue throughout. The body finish is a thinner "Aged Tone" mix of nitrocellulose lacquer. Though subtle, these differences help this 12-fret sound like it has some age to it, even though it's brand new and fresh from Lewiston, Maine. This Bourgeois sounds way bigger than its compact body feels in your hands. It is tone is balanced with impressive warmth and bass content, and notes ring out and sustain with shimmering clarity. It sounds beautiful with a light touch, and it takes off when you dig in. This is an impressive guitar from an impressive builder.
