An exciting new addition to the Martin lineup, the D-15E is the first 15-Series guitar made in Navojoa, Mexico. Carrying on the 15-Series tradition of no-frills styling and solid wood construction, the D-15E packs an impressive roster of features at a price that is hard to pass up.
The D-15E starts with Martin's classic 14-Fret Dreadnought body, and then it has a solid Mahogany top with solid Sapele back and sides. It produces a bold, warm sound that is rich in woody character. Unlike the cheaper X-Series and Road Series, the D-15E has a real wood fingerboard and and a real wood bridge, both made from Katalox. Sometimes called Mexican Royal Ebony, Katalox is a dense Central American hardwood, so it provides the right feel and sound.
While most 15-Series models do not include electronics, the D-15E comes from the factory rigged with Martin's new E1 electronics. The Martin E1 includes controls for Volume, Tone, and Phase, all tucked discreetly in the soundhole. It also includes a built-in chromatic tuner that that automatically mutes the output so you can tune up any time without a goofy tuner clipped on your headstock.
