In 1934, the 14-fret 00-18 rolled out of Nazareth, Pennsylvania. In those days, this charming small-body was overshadowed by louder 000s and Dreadnoughts. But in the decades since, many players have discovered the advantages of a comfortable, responsive, and well-balanced small-body Martin.
This Martin 00-18 was made in 2024, so it features the pre-2025 "Reimagined Standard Series" spec sheet that picks up where the earlier 00-18V left off. Drawing from the iconic '30s specs—but built with 21st Century precision and attention to detail—the 00-18 has a short 24.9" scale, and the small 00 body sits very comfortably on your lap. It's the perfect fit around the living room, but its well-balanced voice sings in any space. The tried-and-true wood complement of Spruce and Mahogany deliver a sweet Martin sound.
This 2024 Martin 00-18 shows some play wear and signs of use. The previous owner installed Gold Grover open-gear tuning machines, and the edges of the headstock show some general wear (from string changes, hanger stands, etc). The nut and saddle have both been replaced with hand-fit bone parts, and the bridge now sports upgraded bone pins with abalone dots that were turned and dyed amber by Bob Colosi. The guitar is in nice cosmetic shape, but it does show some finish checking at certain angles, particular around the bass edge of the bridge.
This 2024 Martin 00-18 plays nicely, and it has a sweet, balanced Mahogany sound. From the first chord, this it delivers impressive bass presence for a small body. Notes up and down the fingerboard ring out with woody character. It would be an easy guitar to mic in the studio, but it'll sound great on stage, too. It includes its original hardshell case.
