While there have been different iterations of the "17 Series," it has been a few decades since Martin offered a true Style-17 guitar—that is, a simplified all-mahogany option built to the same spec level as the iconic Standard Series. But with the refreshed 2025 Standard Series, the 000-17 is included in the lineup, and this new model is excellent addition the line.
This 14-fret 000 is constructed with a Mahogany top, back, and sides. It has a satin finish and no binding (almost like the more recent 15 Series), but the 000-17 features a Nazareth-PA dovetail neck joint and Golden Era Scalloped Spruce X-Bracing under the hood. This is the same bracing used on more expensive 000-18s and 000-28s, and it helps the model consistently deliver vintage-inspired tone and sustain. The 000-17 is a proper Martin guitar!
This 000-17 delivers a balanced, woody sound that is typical of Mahogany. It has an open sound with clear articulation that complements the Mahogany warmth. A natural choice for fingerpicking, this 000-17 is versatile and sounds nice with a pick just the same. With an Ebony bridge and Ebony fingerboard, this stripped-down dreadnought its still built to the same level as the Standard Series. Understated and elegant, this mahogany Martin is sure to impress! It includes a hardshell case.
