The 00-28 Modern Deluxe brings those features to the classic 14-fret 00 body. It pairs a torrefied Spruce (VTS) top with East Indian Rosewood back and sides, and its comfortable 00 size delivers a familiar small-body feel with even projection and nice balance across the register. Built with a dovetail neck joint and natural protein glue construction—just like the prewar instruments that inspired it—it blends tradition with a distinctly modern level of refinement.
This 00-28 Modern Deluxe produces the articulate Martin voice players expect from a rosewood 00. It’s an excellent fingerstyle guitar, but it also performs well with a pick thanks. It has quick response, clear mids, and surprising depth for its smallish size. The torrefied top gives it an open, responsive character right out of the box—the kind of played-in feel that usually takes decades to develop.
To ensure it will last for decades, too, the 00-28 Modern Deluxe employs an interesting blend of classic details and cutting-edge features. Curly Maple binding around the body protects the guitar's structural integrity, and it will never crack and crumble like plastic binding. Gold frets provide consistent tone, and they won't wear down quickly like nickel frets. Under the hood, you'll find a composite carbon fiber bridge plate, which is strong enough to resist the pull of decades of string tension but lightweight enough to keep the top generating nuanced tone. At the bridge, Liquidmetal bridge pins will stand the test of time. To maintain a consistent setup, a titanium truss rod ensures maximum stability without adding unnecessary weight.
