Inspired by the best semi-hollow guitars of the 1960s, the I-35 LC Vintage pushes Collings semi-hollow guitars even closer to well-worn, vintage favorites. This isn’t just a cosmetic treatment; to pull this off, Collings reimagined their I-35 LC from the ground up, reworking the laminate and center block construction, refining the neck carve, and carefully voicing every detail for an exceptionally open and organic tone. At the heart of the I-35 LC Vintage are a set of custom Throbak ESG-102B pickups paired with Luxe Bumblebee capacitors—components chosen for their clarity, dynamic range, and vintage-correct response. The aged finish and hardware process developed in-house by Collings adds visual authenticity that matches the sonic character, making this model feel like an old friend from the first note.
While the I-35 LC and I-35 LC Vintage share the same body dimensions, the differences in tone, feel, and aesthetic are worth noting. The LC Vintage takes a different approach from the original, embracing a looser, more “lived-in” sound and feel. Different materials and construction techniques bring out a breathier, more acoustic-like resonance, and a '60s-appropriate neck carve provides the right feel. With Throbak pickups, Luxe caps, and Collings’ proprietary aging process, this model delivers a rich tonal palette that feels decades old from the first strum. In line with its vintage ethos, the LC Vintage is offered with limited custom options—what you see is what the design intends.
