As raw and unrelenting as the man himself, the 2009 Gibson Les Paul BFG Zakk Wylde Signature model is a sonic sledgehammer, built for players who demand power, precision, and attitude. The unfinished, rough-hewn Maple top gives it a stripped-down, battle-worn vibe that’s a unique feel. With a chambered Mahogany body and active EMG pickups, this signature Les Paul also delivers tone, sustain, and articulation to back it up. Crank your amplifier up, let the gain roar, and this LP delivers searing leads and crushing rhythms.
This particular 2009 BFG Zakk Wylde features the striking Buzzsaw graphic over a Rough Top finish—Wylde’s own twist on the traditional Les Paul aesthetic. BFG stands for "Barely Finished Guitar," and thin satin lacquer lets you feel the natural character of the wood. The Rough Top has marks from hand-tooling, like it was carved and then immediately built into a guitar. With no binding on either the top or the back, the wood edges are carved to sharp points. Raw and unrelenting!
This 2009 BFG Zakk Wylde shows some minor signs of play wear, and there are a few minor bumps around the edges (see photos). The original owner of this Les Paul is a former Gibson employee, so they were able to have Zakk autograph the back of the headstock—a little something that sets this one apart from other examples. Also, this one has the proper screw eye hooks instead of traditional strap buttons, just like Zakk's! Because the body is chambered, it's under 8 lbs, too: this one weighs in at 7 lbs 10.9 oz.
In keeping with the simplified aesthetic, the Ebony fingerboard has block inlays like a Les Paul Custom, but there's no binding—just raw Ebony on the edges. For extra stability and reliability, it has a three-piece Maple neck instead of Mahogany, and it has a bigger '50s profile with a 1-11/16" nut width. The electronics are EMG 81/85 active pickups, so this Les Paul is ready to rip. This is a high-octane guitar with unique features that embody Zakk Wylde's impactful, uncompromising approach to guitar. This Les Paul can keep up with one of the most ripping players in the business, and it's also a great tribute for any collector or fan. This 2009 Gibson Les Paul BFG Zakk Wylde includes its original hardshell case.
