With simple controls for Gain, Volume, and a 2-band EQ (Bass and Treble), the MXR Timmy makes it easy to dial in everything from a subtle boost to rich, harmonic overdrive. It’s particularly effective for pushing an already driven amp without coloring the natural tone—perfect for players who want to enhance, not replace, the character of their rig. Through all the settings, it remains musical and responsive. It doesn't quite get into the heavy distortion high-gain territory, but stack it in front of other dirt pedals and the sky is the limit!
Thanks to its small footprint and low power draw, the MXR Timmy has become a go-to overdrive for players chasing clear, dynamic breakup and amp-like feel. The Clip switch provides three different clipping styles, which allow you to further adjust the color of the overdrive. Very cool!
This 2020s MXR Custom Shop Timmy was owned and used professionally by Drew Emmitt of Leftover Salmon. It shows some scuffs, scratches, and minor signs of play and use (see photos), but it functions 100% as it should and sounds fantastic. Very flexible overdrive pedal that fits easily into any rig!
