Any fan of Peter Rowan and bluegrass music knows the fateful story of Panama Red. Here's a wonderful Dreadnought inspired by the spirit of that classic song. It features absolutely stunning Panama Rosewood back and sides. This rare tonewood shows beautiful burnt orange coloring, and it offers superb resonance and a tone profile similar to Brazilian Rosewood or Cocobolo.
The song "Panama Red" gets called in bluegrass picking circles all around the world, and—thanks to Bourgeois' "Aged Tone" touches—this dreadnought will be heard loudly and clearly in any picking circle. It features an Aged Tone Adirondack Spruce top that is torrefied, and it also has torrefied Aged Tone Adirondack Spruce braces. Torrefied woods a new guitar the seasoned, broken-in richness of a well-loved vintage instrument. As you put this dreadnought through the paces for years and years, it'll only sound better and more refined.
But the Aged Tone treatment doesn't end there. Just like a treasured prewar icon, this Bourgeois D was constructed with Animal Protein glue throughout. The body finish is a thinner "Aged Tone" mix of nitrocellulose lacquer. Though subtle, these differences help this dreadnought sound like it has some age to it, even though it's brand new and fresh from Lewiston, Maine.

This Bourgeois "Panama Red" D produces rich, nuanced tone that shares subtle characteristics with some of our favorite prewar dreadnoughts. But it's Panama Rosewood back and sides are like nothing you've seen before—the gorgeous figuring on the back make this guitar unlike other dreadnoughts. Really it's the complex, crystal-clear tone that sets this guitar out from the rest.
