Handmade in Portland, Oregon by Benson Amps, the Nathan JuniorReverb Combo is the perfect little amplifier! It features 5-watts of rich, all-tube tone through a 10" Celestion Greenback speaker. With spring reverb and flexible treble/bass controls, this straightforward, compact package produces great sound with any guitar you plug into it. For 5 watts in a tiny package, it sounds shockingly big, and it sizzles and breaks up nicely when you push it hard.
Every Benson Amp is wired point-to-point on terminal strips—no circuit, eyelet, or turret board to cause problems down the road. Housed in a solid Baltic Birch cabinet, this Nathan Junior sports classy Night Moves covering with a Wheat grille cloth. Because of the small size and rich, hi-fi sound, the Nathan Junior is the ideal practice amp, perfect for the living room and the studio. Throw a mic in front of it, and it may even do the trick on a gig, too.
With humbuckers and other higher-output pickups, the amp starts break up with the Volume control right around 4-5. Back of on your guitar's volume control, and it cleans up nicely. Independent controls for Treble and Bass provide more flexibility than you probably expect, and the Reverb sounds vast. Some amps have a "sweet spot," but this Nathan Junior sounds great on every setting, and that's a testament to the Benson name. An impressive box from an impressive builder!
