Since the 14-fret iteration was unveiled in 1934, the Martin D-28 has set the standard by which all acoustic guitars are judged. With massive bass response and articulate high end detail, it's easy to understand why the D-28 has been the choice of guitarists across a wide array of genres and generations of players. The D-28 is the quintessential workhorse. From Hank Sr. and Johnny Cash to Neil Young, The Beatles, and Jimmy Page, every guitarist sounds right on a D-28.

“The post WWII D-28 had a slightly different look than its predecessor and became the centerpiece of the folk and folk rock movements at their pinnacle in the 1950s and 1960s." says Chris Martin, Chairman and owner of Martin Guitar, "We have extracted the finest features from the D-28 of both my grandfather’s and my father’s respective eras."

One of the newest additions to the Martin lineup, the D-28 StreetLegend pays tribute to postwar D-28, and it features a satin finish with visual, simulated wear inspired by historic models found in the Martin museum. Make no mistake—this isn't a relic (no medieval tools used here!) The guitar is pristine, but it has the look of an old weathered guitar. It's very cool effect that gives you the look of an old-sound Martin, but a brand new guitar with all of the innovations of Martin's 185 years of guitar building.

The D-28 StreetLegend combines the most sought-after vintage appointments, including open gear tuners, 1-3/4" nut width, antique white binding, and a satin-aged tortoise pickguard. With a modern neck profile and PLEK treatment, this D-28 StreetLegend provides a modern precision, feel, and an overall comfortable playing experience. Under the hood, forward-shifted bracing allows greater vibration of the top to give you the sound of sought-after Martin relic.
