The Nechville Atlas Deluxe is a clawhammer player's dream. It is the perfect blend of old-time, Reconstruction-Era inspiration and modern, 21st-Century innovation. The result is a banjo that captures authentic open-back tone with perfect playability, precise intonation, and limitless flexibility.
This Atlas Deluxe (serial #2628) features a 12" block Walnut pot with a Renaissance head for warm, more bass-oriented sound. Under the hood, Nechville's Exotic Wood Cap tone ring softens the tone nicely, lending authentic old-time sound.
We ordered this one with antiqued bronzed hardware to give it a fitting old-time aesthetic, but make no mistake—this banjo is still packed with cutting-edge features. Its Ebony fingerboard has a comfortable compound 7-12"-radiused fingerboard, and it has a full S trailing scoop. Its Walnut neck has a two-way-acting truss rod, and it sports Nechville's "Quick-Cam Neck Connection" for precise and easy adjustments. While it has a traditional dowel stick, it's actually removable and easy to adjust as needed. Plus, it has modern touches such as a beveled armrest, intoned bridge, and an in-line tailpiece.
Any way you look at it, the Nechville Atlas Deluxe may be the most advanced traditional banjo you're likely to find.
