First introduced in 1942, the J-45 quickly became the cornerstone of Gibson's acoustic line—in many ways, it provided the blueprint for Gibson’s flattop sound. Designed during the wartime years to be a musician's workhorse, the J-45 pairs a slope-shoulder dreadnought body with a 24.75" scale for a warm, balanced voice that sets it apart from square-shouldered guitars. Focused low end, woody midrange, and smooth trebles make the J-45 a natural fit for singer-songwriters, roots players, and studio musicians alike. Over the decades, the J-45 has remained one of Gibson’s most enduring and influential acoustics, a model that defines the brand’s approach to tone, feel, and understated elegance.
The modern J-45 Standard carries on the legacy! This J-45 Standard dates to 2025 and it pays homage to the decades of slope-shoulder Gibsons that came before it. Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, and the Sunburst looks just right. On the peghead, the inlaid Gibson logo provides a bit more elegance than a low-cost decal. Outfitted with Grover Rotomatic Tuning machines and an LR Baggs Element pickup, this J-45 Standard was built to deliver night after night.
This 2025 J-45 Standard has a 1-11/16" nut width, and the neck profile is the familiar rounded C Gibson feel. It produces a big sound with prominent midrange and tight, focused bass. Plenty of high end content to balance out the sound. A great strummer, it also fingerpicks well, and its dry sound will cut through for lead work, too. A hard-working all-around acoustic!
This 2025 J-45 Standard is very gently used and shows only minor signs of play and use (see photos). It includes its original hardshell case and case candy. The setup is excellent and in many ways this J-45 Standard feels like a brand new guitar. Just about as nice as you could ask from a used guitar!
