Since it was introduced in 1960, the Hummingbird has been Gibson's most recognizable square-shouldered dreadnought, blending warm, balanced tone with unmistakable visual style. The Hummingbird Studio takes that familiar formula in a slightly understated direction, retaining the comfortable feel and rich voice that have made the model a favorite while simplifying the appointments for a cleaner aesthetic and more accessible price. Built with performance in mind, it offers the unmistakable Gibson character in a streamlined, stage-ready package.
This 2020 Hummingbird Studio pairs a solid Spruce top with solid Walnut back and sides, producing a clear, focused voice with excellent note separation and a slightly drier response than the traditional mahogany or maple. The Walnut delivers crisp articulation, which pairs well with the dreadnought's warmth and projection. This guitar also has slimmer 4" body depth for a more comfortable feel, but it doesn't sacrifice the full-bodied sound expected from a square-shouldered dreadnought. The plain tortoise-pattern pickguard still has the classic Hummingbird shape, and Gibson's iconic Double Parallelogram inlays guide your way on the fingerboard. With no fingerboard binding, it's clean and slightly understated.
This 2020 Gibson Hummingbird is gently used and shows some minor signs of wear, but nothing too severe. The worst are some scrapes around the body edges scant marks around the peghead edges. The previous owner installed a strap button on the heel, and it has factory-installed Fishman electronics under the hood with volume and tone controls tucked in the soundhole. It has a rounded, full-feeling mahogany neck with Gibson's traditional 24.75" scale length for a relaxed playing experience. A nice, low setup suits everything from light fingerstyle work to aggressive flatpicking, and the nut width measures 1-11/16".
This Hummingbird Studio offers the distinctive Gibson dreadnought voice in a lighter, more comfortable package, with the Walnut construction adding a unique tonal flavor that sets it apart from the standard Hummingbird. A great choice for players looking for a versatile American-made acoustic that balances classic Gibson heritage with modern practicality. It includes its original hardshell case.
