The Sub 'N' Up Octaver is a next-generation polyphonic octave pedal with a monophonic octave function and the flexibility of TC Electronic's TonePrint Technology.
The controls are straightforward: "Dry" controls the volume of your unaffected signal (all the way up is the same volume as bypass), "Up" allows you to blend in an extra voice an octave up from your original signal, "Sub" adds a voice an octave below, and "Sub 2" adds an earth-shattering voice two octaves below your original signal. The MODE switch selects between the regular "Poly" polyphonic mode, the "TonePrint" patch, and the "Classic" monophonic setting.
TC Electronics improved their polyphonic pitch technology, and the Sub 'N' Up gives you faster note tracking than was available on older pedals, especially when playing chords. The octave tones are articulate and hi-fi, and the simple controls lend a wide range of veratility. Whether you’re look for shimmery octave-up tones, a sweet 12-string ring, or down-low subsonic octave riffs, the Sub 'N' Up delivers the goods!
Sub ‘N’ Up also include a cool monophonic octaver—"Classic" mode—which is great for faux bass-lines with a guitar or for replicating the glorious glitchy imperfections of yesteryears' octave pedals. Try this setting with a bass or bass synth, crank the two sub signals, and get ready to bring down the PA.
This 2019 TC Electronic Sub 'N' Up is gently used. It shows some minor signs of wear and use (see photos), but it is a guitar pedal and they do get stepped on, after all. The worst is a scuff in the paint right across the label. It functions 100% as it should, and it's a versatile, highly-usable octave pedal.
