If you haven't checked out Eastman lately, you are sincerely missing out! Eastman has carved out a niche by delivering hand-crafted instruments at a price point that is way more accessible than their American-made counterparts. Because of combination of quality construction, the right materials, and a price tag that is easy to swallow, Eastman has become the go-to for players of all levels.
The intention behind the Eastman T486 is pretty clear—this model is a semi-hollow thinline with two rounded cutaways and two humbuckers. But to be fair, the T486 isn't just a generic copy of a classic design; it is a hard-working instrument constructed from high-quality materials and components. The T486 delivers warm, rich tone with a balanced blend of acoustic resonance and electric clarity.
This Eastman T486-BK was made in 2019, and it features the solid Black finish with pearl split parallelogram inlays on the fingerboard. For pickups, this T486-BK sports factory-installed Seymour Duncan humbuckers: a Jazz in the Neck and a '59 in the bridge. In your hands, it feels like a well-made semi-hollow, nd Eastman doesn't skimp on the details, either. This model comes stock with an Ebony fingerboard, a bone nut, a Gotoh tune-o-matic bridge, CTS pots, Switchcraft switch, and vintage-style tuning machines with Keystone buttons.
This 2019 Eastman T486-BK is gently used, and it shows some minor scuffs and signs of use, the worst of which is on the middle of the back. Also, the flame is starting to show through the finish on the back (see photos). But all around, this T486 feels like a high-quality guitar that delivers the full, resonant tone you want from a semi-hollow thinline.
This Eastman T486-BK is a versatile semi-hollow guitar that can cover a lot of different sounds and genres. The setup is low and inviting, and the original hardshell case is included.
