In the small town of Kani in the hills north of Nagoya, the Yairi factory has produced some of Japan's finest guitars for more than 80 years. Built with pride, tradition, and the finest materials available, Alvarez Yairi guitars are beautifully presented, wonderful sounding, luthier-made instruments.
The Yairi Honduran Series began when the team discovered a stash of Honduran Mahogany that had been seasoning naturally for over 50 years. The company's founder Kazuo Yairi amassed an incredible supply of tone woods over the years, and much of it waited decades before it was put to use. He owned a piece of land not far from the Yairi factory, and perfectly conditioned billets of old growth Honduran mahogany had been waiting there for decades.
With such a fine tonewood available for back and sides, the Alvarez-Yairi team chose to pair it with an equally fine top wood: AAAA Adirondack Spruce. This top-quality wood complement produces warm, full-sounding and articulate tone. Built with the Yairi tradition and hand-made approach, these guitars are voiced to be responsive, expressive instruments.
This 2018 Alvarez Yairi FYM60HD features an Orchestra Model body constructed of a AAAA Adirondack Spruce top and Honduran Mahogany back and sides. Its comfortable, mid-size body produces a lively tone that sounds much bigger than the guitar's moderate size. It is balanced across the register, and it responds quickly and evenly. To Match the premium tonewoods, the FYM60HD is decked out with top-of-the-line details such as a genuine Ebony fingerboard, bone nut, bone saddle, and Gotoh 510 tuners.
This 2018 Alvarez Yairi FYM60HD is in excellent condition. It shows some minor play wear, and it looks like its previous owner was once a little sloppy with the bridge pins (see photos). All-in-all, this is a fantastic guitar with tonewoods and details way beyond its reasonable price. Original hardshell case included.
