Since 1956, the Duo-Sonic has been a basic—but effective—short-scale model that simply oozes with distinctive Fender mojo.
In 2017, Fender added a humbucker-equipped Duo-Sonic to its Offset Series. Borrowing from the late-'60s Mustang body design, this 24"-scale model was built in Mexico, and it features an Alder body and a C-shaped maple neck with a Pau Ferro fingerboard. A six-saddle hardtail Strat bridge increases sustain while bent steel saddles enhance the upper harmonics to cut through a dense mix. The aesthetic appointments—including the knurled flat-top control knobs and three-ply Mint Green pickguard—add a touch of classic Fender style to this modernized design.
This 2017 Fender Offset Series Duo-Sonic sports sincerely upgraded electronics from Porter Pickups. In the neck position, you'll find a Porter 1960s Strat pickup, and when you switch to the bridge position, a Porter "Portertron" will make your amp growl! This one is the Seafoam Green finish (which has a little more metallic sparkle than you might expect), and it looks gorgeous with the Mint Green pickguard and the nickel cover of the Portertron. The previous owner added a "gold tooth" to the pickguard—it's a gold-plated over-sized screw for a little pizazz.
This 2017 Fender Offset Series Duo-Sonic is fairly clean condition-wise, but it does show some playwear and a few bumps and bruises (the worst is a ding across the side at the lower bout, see photos). Thanks to a pro setup, this Duo-Sonic is a true player with all sorts of short-scale jangle. The original pickups and a padded Chicago Music Exchange gig bag are included.
