While the ukulele has become hugely popular in recent years, very few of the instruments you see in music stores actually come from Hawaii. In fact, very few of them are even made in the United States. Most are mass-produced overseas, but Kanile'a is an exception!
Located on the island of Oahu, Kanile'a is a family company that produces handmade ukuleles, combining the tradition of Hawaiian craftsmanship with modern-day technology and innovation. Kanile'a goes a step further by using Hawaiian Koa as much as possible, but they're also committed to sustainable use of this precious tonewood. Through their reforestation efforts, a native Hawaiian tree is planted for every Kanileʻa ukulele built.
This 2017 Kanile'a Ku'uipo Premium T features a traditional Tenor body constructed entirely of gorgeous Hawaiian Koa. It has a genuine Ebony fingerboard and bridge, and it is set up from the factory for low G tuning. It has a unique heart-shaped sound hole, which is fitting because this lovely ukulele is easy to love!
This 2017 Ku'uipo Premium T Is in excellent condition, showing only minimal signs of play and use (see photos). The Koa looks beautiful, and thanks to the graceful voicing of the Spruce Braces, it produces a beuaitufl sound, too. This ukulele has a sweet, rounded voice, and the build quality feels substantial. This isn't another made-in-china wannabe—this handmade Tenor is a ukulele for serious ukulele players. It includes a high-quality hard case.
