Relatively simple in appointments, the Bourgeois D-Country Boy demonstrates that the right combination of fine materials—built and voiced with expertise and precise craftsmanship—will produce deeply inspiring tone.
This 2016 Bourgeois D-Country Boy features an Adirondack Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. Its tone is powerful, warm, and robust with the refined complexities of a gently-used, played-in guitar. Named by bluegrass-legend Ricky Skaggs, the Country Boy certainly fits the bill as a banjo killer, but the time-tested template of a spruce/mahogany dreadnought covers so much territory beyond bluegrass. With the right voicing to insure it packs a punch, this D-Country Boy is an excellent all-around guitar. It has strong projection that can leap across the room, but it remains nicely rounded, and every note blooms even with a soft, fingerstyle touch.
