Although it was only available for a short time, the D-17M caught the attention of many discerning Martin players and collectors. This rare-model features a Sitka Spruce top and the simplified "A-Frame X" bracing pattern made popular on Martin's 15-Series guitars. The result is a dreadnought guitar with tons of volume and absolutely thunderous bass response. With an Ambertone Sunburst top finish and simplified Style-17 appointments, the D-17M is a classy-looking guitar, too. Looks may not affect the sound, but no harm in a guitar that looks as good as it sounds, right?
Because they were offered at such a great price, the D-17Ms did not last long at Martin dealers across the country, and because the materials used became more and more expensive, Martin wasn't able to keep producing them. Nowadays, it's rare to find one available used.
This 2015 Martin D-17M shows some minor playwear, but it doesn't appear to have been put through the paces very much over the last 5 years. It is very clean all around and has no history of repairs or issues whatsoever. It's a great-sounding dreadnought with powerful low-end, and it is certainly one of the best deals we've got on the wall for a good used Martin. Its original hardshell case is included, and it's every bit as clean as the guitar.
