Introduced in 2014, Gretsch announced a collaboration with Bono and Product (Red) to raise awareness and funds to help eliminate HIV/AIDS in Africa. The result was the G5623—a double-cutaway thinline addition to the Electromatic line. It features a spruce "Center-Block" design that keeps this semi-hollow guitar stable, even in high-gain territory. Its body is constructed of laminate Maple, and it has a Maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. It also features two "Black Top" Filter'Tron hum bucking pickups with a standard three-way switch and master volume and tone controls. Gretsch's signature "G"-cutout tailpiece, Adjusto-Matic bridge, and Grover Rotomatic tuners keep this guitar set up and in tune.
This 2014 Gretsch G5623 Bono (Red) Electromatic is in remarkably clean condition, and it plays and sounds like a guitar that should sell for a lot more dough. There is some strap rash on the back, but there's not much else to tell you it's not brand new. It includes a form-fitting, Gretsch-branded case.
