Based on the asymmetrical clipping diode design pioneered by the OD-1, the Boss SD-1 delivers rich, smooth, and highly musical overdrive tones. Because it preserves the nuances of a player's picking dynamics and the guitar's tonal characteristics, the SD-1 is versatile. Blues, rock, metal—you name it, and it will take you there. Since 1981, the Boss SD-1 has been a staple on many pedalboards.
The controls are simple: Level, Tone, and Drive. But within those three parameters, there's a wide range of overdrive sounds from subtle warmth to rich, saturated tones. Whether used as a standalone overdrive or to push an amp into further distortion, the Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive delivers classic tone and response in a compact pedal.
This 2014 Boss SD-1 shows some scuffs and signs of use, but it functions 100% as it should and sounds just right. There are various paint chips and scuffs (see photos), and the previous owner installed velcro on the bottom. This is the modern version of the SD-1, so it has surface-mount components. While that means it can't be modded, it's way more durable over time, so this one will handle the rigors of the road. It includes its original box and paperwork.
