Since 1961, the Casino has been Epiphone's best-selling archtop. Famously used by the Beatles, Howlin' Wolf, the Rolling Stones, Gary Clark, Jr., and many others, the Casino may also be Epiphone's most-recognizable electric guitar.
The original Kalamazoo-made Casinos are sought-after guitars. The original design was a 16"-wide archtop guitar that is the same depth as semi-hollow guitars such as the ES-335. Unlike the 335 which has a center block to promote sustain and prevent feedback, the Casino is fully hollow like a jazz box. With two P-90s, it produces unique rock n' roll growl, and the tendency to feedback at higher volumes introduces a new overdriven sound.
This Epiphone Casino was made in August of 2013, and it features the rare Metallic Gold finish. It has been customized with a sand-polished aluminum pickguard and matching truss rod cover. These custom-made parts look high-end against the Metallic Gold finish, and the pickguard even has the appropriate Epiphone Epsilon. On the pickguard, this Casino has been upgraded with an after-market vintage-style metal Epiphone nameplate—another custom touch that makes this guitar look a bit more elegant than the next Casino off the block.
This 2013 Casino MG is in excellent condition with no history of damages or issues. It shows some superficial signs of play and use, but it is free of any severe wear, dings, or scratches. It is set up with smooth, low action, and the '60s-inspired neck profile is comfortable. The stock P90s sound fantastic and sizzle when you dig in with the amp cranked, but with the custom parts and rare finish, this Casino would be a fun candidate for upgraded pickups.
True to the model's reputation, this 2013 Casino MG is a rock n' roll machine, but it is capable of a wide range of sounds. The thinline full-hollow design is a versatile template, especially when you have expressive single coil pickups. It includes an Epiphone-stenciled hardshell case.
