George Fullerton and Leo Fender founded G&L in 1979 to further expand Leo's innovations in electric instruments. Many view G&L as the pinnacle of Leo's designs. Constructed in Fullerton, California , the current G&L line offers Leo's brilliant designs, made with modern-day attention to detail and precision.
L-2000 goes all the way back to 1980 and G&L's beginnings. With this model. Leo sought to produces the widest range of tones that could come from a single bass. With a pair of G&L Magnetic Field Design humbuckers backed by the flexible Tri-Tone control system, the L-2000 provides the sort of versatility that’ll let you find your tone no matter what kind of bass line you’re laying down.
The MFD pickups are really hot with the volume control wide open, but they also sound great at lower volumes. More than anything, they have a wide-open dynamic sound that works for any playing style. Then, you have a trio of mini toggles for pickup selection, series/parallel signal routing, and active/passive operation, as well as a trio of knobs for volume, treble, and bass. Serious versatility!
This 2000 L-2000 is a nice bass with a lot to offer. Like everything from G&L, it is well set up with heavy-duty hardware. If you need one instrument to handle a wide range of sounds and material, look no further! It's in nice shape with one noticeable ding on the back of the neck behind the 11th fret. The body shows some play wear and signs of use, but it's pretty clean all around (see photos). The setup is nice and playable, and the electronics function 100% as they should. It includes its original hardshell case.
