Although he sadly passed away too soon, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole ("Iz") has posthumously achieved a legendary status held by few (if any) other musicians. His music—and perhaps one song in particular—is often the reason aspiring players choose to pick up the ukulele. In many ways, Iz is the ultimate ambassador for the ukulele and Hawaiian music in general. Across the many genres of music, there are few musicians who have had the same impact as Iz.
Proudly made in Nazareth, Pa., the 1T Iz Tenor Ukulele is a fitting tribute to such a legendary musician. It features a 17"-scale tenor body constructed of Quilted Mahogany. It produces a warm ukulele sound that is well-balanced with impressive resonance and mahogany richness.
From there, every detail is top level. Unlike many ukuleles—which are shoddily constructed and have issues over time—the 1T Iz Tenor has an applied dovetail neck joint—just like a good Martin 6-string! It also sports geared planetary tuning pegs, which provide optimal tuning stability.
