The Telecaster Plus Deluxe rolled out in 1990, and while it pays homage to the time-honored originals, this model was outfitted with the most cutting-edge parts available at the time. In addition to locking tuners and a roller nut, the Telecaster Plus Deluxe has a two-point Stratocaster tremolo system with six heavy-duty saddles, allowing you to fine tune the intonation.

For electronics, the Tele Plus Deluxe had Lace Sensor pickups, which were red hot at the time. In the neck position, there's a Lace Sensor Blue, and in the bridge position, it has a "Dually" humbucker—two Lace Sensor Red pickups paired to function as one. The Lace Sensor design retains a lot of the dynamic qualities players love about Fender pickups. But unlike most single-coil designs, the Lace Sensor's coil is encased in metal barriers, which help reduce electro-magnetic interference and excess noise/hum. According to the manufacturer, the barriers also help concentrate the magnetic field, allowing weaker magnets to be used. This results in less string pull, so that means truer pitch and intonation as well as superior sustain.

On the control plate, the Telecaster Plus Deluxe has an additional three-way switch that allows you to split the coils on the Dually bridge pickup. With the switch toward the neck, you get the active coil closest to the neck, and toward the bridge, you get the opposite—the pickup closest to the bridge. In the middle position, you combine both for an especially fat, full tone. Because you can explore all the tonal possibilities of the pickups, you'll find tones only available on the Tele Plus.

This Telecaster Plus Deluxe dates to 1991, and it shows some minor signs of play and use but it is nice shape all around. It has a fresh setup so the playability is excellent. The previous owner installed a Hipshot Tremsetter in the tremolo cavity. The Lace Sensors show some wear, and the labels are hard to read. The edges of the headstock show some scuffs and scratches, and the finish on the back of the headstock is checked and worn. There are a few palpable bumps on the back of the neck. It currently sports strap buttons for locking tuners. It includes its original tremolo arm as well as a Fender catalog from '91 and a cool red Fender strap. The natural finish looks just right, and this guitar includes a hardshell case that fits the guitar decently, but seems like it might be better suited for a Gibson of some sort. Whether it was Houser or Greenwood that brought you here, this could be the guitar you're looking for!
