Since 1951, the Fender Precision Bass has been a straight, no-frills approach to powerful low end that fits any stage. In those 67 years, no bass has shaken doors and rattled windows quite like the P-Bass. If you can’t get it done on a Precision, you’re probably missing the point.

By 1966, the Precision Bass featured a contoured body, three-tone sunburst, split double-rectangular pickup, wider Strat-like peghead, and a tortoise pickguard. The '60s P-Bass is iconic, and we love the way it looks with the flashy pickup and bridge covers. But it's not all about look—when you plug it in, it's an absolute powerhouse.

This 1966 Fender Precision Bass is as nice as you could hope for. It is currently set up with all of its original parts and components (we believe down to every last screw!). We have it strung with D'Addario Chrome Flatwounds, and its tone is absolutely thunderous. The pickup is powerful, so notes bloom and flourish. The resistance measures 9.61 k ohms.

As far as condition, this P-Bass is so fresh and so clean! There are two small scuffs on the bass-side horn near the strap button, but that's by far the most offensive wear you'll find. The original 3-tone sunburst pops, and we love the more reddish "pepporoni" color of the pickguard. The contour body is comfortable in your hands, and we like the feel of the wider fingerboard. This one isn't overly heavy, either. With the pickup and bridge covers in place, it weighs in at 8 lbs 9.3 oz. Without those metal parts, it comes in under 8.5 lbs! Can't beat that, especially if you've got three sets to get through.

This 1966 Fender Precision Bass is hard to argue with, and it includes its original hardshell case. This '66 is so sick!
