Classic, compact, comfortable—great things come in small packages. The Martin 00-28 is one of our favorite small-body guitars. Its articulate, well-balanced tone is hard to beat, and its manageable 14-fret 00-body is feels just right on your lap—your dreadnoughts will be jealous.
The 00-28 features the classic Style-28 wood complement of a Spruce top and East Indian Rosewood back and sides. In 2025, Martin refreshed the spec sheet with Golden Era details to enhance. tone, comfort, and style. The 00-28 has the same Sitka Spruce GE top bracing you find on the Modern Deluxe Series, which helps improve the voicing of the small body for a fuller sound. Across the board, we find the GE Scalloped bracing delivers more consistent results—balanced, inspiring sound, guitar after guitar. From there, the GE Modified Low oval neck profile, thinner fingerboard, and refined bridge and heel improve playability and aesthetics.
This 00-28 quick to respond and deeply resonant, and its tone is rich in harmonics with nice woody bloom. It feels vibrant and lively for such a small, comfortable body. With the prewar-inspired cosmetics—iconic herringbone purling, caramel aging toner, vintage-style decal, etc.—this 00-28 looks every bit as good as it sounds.
