At Telluride Music Co., we are honored to be a Marquis Dealer of C.F. Martin guitars.
When you dig into the details of how Martin’s Authentic Series came to be, it gets pretty nerdy (CAT machines and guitars don’t often hang out together). But maybe the years of research and scientific examination are just what it takes to produce easily the most historically-accurate recreations of prewar Martin guitars. Built entirely in Martin’s Custom Shop, the Authentic Series instruments are the real deal.
New for 2018, the 00-17 Authentic is based on a 1931 example currently held in the Martin museum. Largely because of their low prices, the all-mahogany 17 Series were extremely popular in the Depression era, but their warm, refined tone has ensured these sought-after guitars continue to inspire generations of players. The 00-17 Authentic is historically accurate to the most minute detail, including a solid Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge.
This 00-17 Authentic 1931 VTS features a 12-fret 00-body constructed entirely of solid Mahogany using hide glue throughout. Scalloped X-Braces and Martin’s VTS treatment allow this small-body guitar to sing with nice projection and smooth dynamics. Its 1-7/8″-wide solid Ebony nut provides a comfortable spacing for finger-pickers, but its lightweight feel and perfect setup (thanks, Custom Shop!) are inviting and inspiring for every playing style. This is an impressive addition to an already-impressive line of guitars. The Authentic Series is the new benchmark.
