At Telluride Music Co., we are honored to be an Authorized Dealer of Collings guitars.
The Collings Jumbo—or CJ—is Collings’ interpretation of the classic slope-shouldered dreadnought, a shape that has enjoyed renewed popularity in recent years because of its balanced tone and wide versatility. While the CJ is similar in width and depth to a traditional dreadnought, it has a distinctly different sound thanks to its slope-shouldered design. With a 25.4″ scale length, this body size produces rich, complex tones with quick dynamic response.
We ordered this Collings CJ (serial #25901) with a sunburst top, but otherwise it conforms to traditional CJ specs including a solid Sitka Spruce top and solid East Indian Rosewood back and sides. Its 1-11/16″ bone nut and C-shaped neck profile are comfortable and nicely playable, and the tone it produces is everything you’d expect and so much more. On this CJ, notes bloom with beautiful complexity. And with careful Ivoroid binding all over, Collings’ unmistakable “haircut” peghead, and a meticulous sunburst finish only Collings could deliver, this guitar is visually stunning. Yet, somehow, it sounds better than it looks. There’s a reason why the CJ is one of Telluride Music Co.’s best-selling Collings models.
