Hand-crafted in Devon, England, Brook guitars are known as superlative finger-style guitars, constructed with only the finest materials available. In the world of boutique luthiers, Brooks are an exceptional value. They are hand-crafted instruments with the unique character and voicing discerning guitarists demand, but they won’t stretch your budget nearly as thin as other builders.
This gently-used Torridge features a Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides. In building their guitars, Brook makes a sincere effort to use reclaimed woods whenever possible. Interestingly, the Mahogany in this guitar was repurposed from an old English door. As soon as you hear the tone of this one, you’ll immediately want to fly to England and start pulling doors off of buildings—this door sounds great!
The Torridge employs a OO body size with a tight waist, which gives this guitar nice projection and bloom for its size. It can handle light strumming, but it definitely shines as a finger-style guitar. The nut width is 1-23/32″, so it is wider than many guitars but not nearly as wide as many guitars that are geared towards finger-style playing. Overall, its playability is excellent with smooth, low action all the way up. As for tone, this Brook is warm and clear with nice even, balance. As you work your way up the neck, notes bloom and flourish just like open strings.
This gently-used Brook Torridge shows minimal signs of playwear and has no significant cosmetic wear, no repairs, and no issues. It includes its original Hiscox case.
