2007 Martin D-18 Authentic 1937

Chris Martin must’ve grown tired of hearing folks say “they don’t make ’em like they used to” because the Authentic Series is basically Martin copying guitars they built 80 years ago.

This 2007 Martin D-18 Authentic 1937 is in gently-used, excellent condition, and it features a professionally-installed K&K Pure Mini with Pre-Phase Preamp. It is an historically-accurate modern recreation of a 1937 D-18. Its voice is loud, warm, and robust, thanks to a 14-fret Dreadnought body and a solid Adirondack Spruce top supported by “Advanced” Forward-Shifted, Scalloped X-Braces (which are made out of 5/16″ Solid Adirondack Spruce to boot!). There is a reason why the pre-’38 dreadnoughts sound so much better than their successors: the bracing simply allows for more movement of the top, so richer dynamics and more tone. Hide glue construction throughout, Authentic T-Bar neck reinforcement, 1-3/4″ bone nut, cut-through bone saddle with 2-5/16″ string spacing—this cannon of a dreadnought is as close as you can get to prewar without re-financing your home.
