F.A.Q.

Q: I have a guitar branded “Telluride”—can you tell me about it?
A: Unfortunately, no. There is a Chinese manufacturer that builds guitars and other instruments under the “Telluride” brand, even though they have no connection to Telluride Music Co., the Town of Telluride, or the various festivals and events that happen here. Because of that, we don’t know anything about the various models, specifications, serial numbers, or their value. In fact, we’ve never actually seen one of these “Telluride guitars” in the wild.

Q: What is my instrument worth?
A: Ultimately, your instrument is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. We sell all sorts of instruments on consignment, so if you are interested in selling an instrument through our shop, we can gladly give you an idea of what we would expect to sell it for. If you’re interested in an instrument from our inventory, then we can also talk about trade value. But if you’re not interested in selling your instrument, then it is only worth the enjoyment and gratification you get out of playing it. We do not offer insurance appraisals, but we can gladly offer a referral if that’s what you need.

Q: Do you do trades?
A: You bet! Give us a call at 970.728.9592 or send us an e-mail if you’re looking to trade.

Q: Do you sell instruments on consignment?
A: Absolutely! Consignment is a big part of what we do. Our goal is to connect people with instruments that truly inspire them, and very often that includes helping folks sell the instruments that aren’t working for them. We offer competitive consignment rates, and we do our best to get you the best value out of your instrument as quickly as we can. If you have an instrument on the chopping block, give us a call at 970.728.9592 or send us an e-mail.

Q: Do you do repairs?
A: You bet! We can do everything from a simple setup and restring to advanced lutherie and electronic repair. If you can bring your instrument by the shop, we are always available to assess it and offer a repair estimate. If you have any questions about a repair, give us a call at 970.728.9592 or send us an e-mail.

Q: Do you rent guitars?
A: Yes! We absolutely rent guitars. We have a rental fleet of acoustic flat-top guitars that are available for $10/day. Most of our rentals are Sigma DM-1 Dreadnoughts, but we also have a few odds and ends from Martins to Art & Lutherie and Epiphone that should fit your needs. Give us a call at 970.728.9592 or send us an e-mail to see what’s available and reserve a rental.

Q: Do you sell vinyl?
A: Yes! We have an extensive selection of new LPs. Most of it is brand new, sealed 180-gram pressings of new releases and reissues that include download cards. Whenever possible, we order limited edition pressings, colored vinyl, and picture discs. We can also do special orders on many rare and hard-to-find LPs. We receive new vinyl weekly, so we’ve always got something fresh.  Stop by and see what we’ve got!

Q: Are you the same Telluride Music I’ve seen on Reverb.com?
A: You bet! Our Reverb.com store is always packed with cool instruments and gear. We use Reverb.com mainly for used instruments and other cool gems that are priced to sell. Please be aware that sales through Reverb.com are subject to different policies than what you see on our Policies page.

Q: Do you offer financing or layaway?
A: We accept payment through PayPal, and PayPal offers some slick financing options. Also- you can checkout with Affirm financing at our Reverb.com store. In the shop, we offer flexible layaway plans with a 25% deposit. If you have any questions about how layaway works, give us a call at 970.728.9592 or send us an e-mail.

Q: Do you store guitars long-term?
A: We offer acoustic instrument storage in our climate-controlled, insured store room for $10/month. To schedule storage, give us a call at 970.728.9592 or send us an e-mail.

Q: Can I ship an instrument/gear to your store?
A: We know arranging delivery of high-end instruments can be a nightmare in the Telluride area, but we accept deliveries from FedEx and UPS every day. If you need somewhere safe to send a new instrument, you’re welcome to ship directly to our address. That way, you’ll know it’s secure, and we’re always glad to assess any instrument shipped on approval as well. Before shipping, please don’t forget to give us a call at 970.728.9592 or send us an e-mail and let us know to expect something.

Q: Do you offer back-line rentals?
A: Sorry, we do not offer back-line rental equipment. If you need to rent an instrument, we may have something available (acoustic guitar, upright bass, etc.), but we don’t have any amplifiers, PA, microphone, keyboards, or related equipment available for rental. If you back-line gear for a gig in the Telluride area, our friend Dean at Dragonfire Productions may be able to help point you in the right direction.

Q: Do you sell pianos?
A: We are an Authorized Dealer of Roland products, and we can special order a variety of digital pianos and keyboards through them. We also keep a stock of student-level Casio keyboards for anyone starting out on the keys. Give us a call at 970.728.9592 or send us an e-mail if we can help you find something.

Q: Do you know a piano tuner in the Telluride area?
A: We do! We recommend Glenda Fletchall of GF Music Piano Tuning. You can reach Glenda at 970.208.2675.

Q: Do you sell woodwinds or band instruments?
A: Unfortunately, we do not. We keep a stock of clarinet and saxophone reeds as well as slide grease and valve oil to keep your instrument in shape, but we do not stock any woodwind or band instruments. This is because our staff does not play these instruments, and we don’t think it’s good business to try to sell folks instruments we don’t play.
