On his second full-length album, JD Simo, fuses fluid and fiery fretwork with vital and vulnerable vocals. The Chicago-born and Nashville-based singer, songwriter, guitarist, & producer has been acclaimed by Rolling Stone, NPR, Guitar Player, Relix, No Depression, and more.

From his stint at the helm of SIMO to his solo debut and logging hundreds of gigs annually, JD has collaborated with Jack White, Tommy Emmanuel, @Luther Dickinson, Blackberry Smoke, & more. He graced the bills of festivals, including Bonnaroo, Warren Hayne’s Christmas Jam, & Mountain Jam. Phil Lesh, iconic co-founder of @The Grateful Dead, invited him to join Phil Lesh and Friends. Meanwhile, JD’s 2019 solo album, Off At 11, incited fan fervor and taste-maker praise - “channels for-bearers such as Jimi Hendrix, Santana and the Allman Brothers Band" - Billboard.

When it came time to record, he sought out a co-producer for the first time. Enlisting Eddie Spear behind the board, he recorded the album to tape in just three days during January 2020.

“One of Those Days" slips into a simmering groove as falsetto resounds through nimble playing. It pulls from those Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield vibes. JD delivers a heavy homage to James Brown’s “Out of Sight,” wailing on a solo with a kind of unapologetic and unrestrained physicality. He and the band rip Earl Hooker’s “Anna Lee” through an old Casio Boombox before “fucking with the tape” to add another level of unfiltered passion.
