As early as 1915, Martin began experimenting with ukulele designs, and in 1929, Martin introduced Tenor ukuleles to their line. With a larger body and a longer scale, these Tenor Ukuleles produce a full-bodied voice and greater overall volume. Their larger size also makes them feel more familiar to guitar players accustomed to a more sizable instrument.
The Martin T1 Uke StreetMaster features all solid Mahogany construction and an ultra-thin sunburst finish that creates a beautifully weathered appearance with time. Drawing from the model set by countless violin guilds over the years, Martin introduced the StreetMaster finish first on road-ready guitars that had distressed satin finishes that will age beautifully and show honest play-wear over time. On the ukulele, the StreetMaster finish offers the look and mojo of a well-worn, vintage instrument but with the accurate setup and smooth playability of a brand new Martin.
