If you haven't been paying attention to Eastman, you are sincerely missing out! Eastman is delivering high-quality mandolins—constructed with fine tone woods—at prices that are a fraction of the competition. Sure, they aren't made in the US, but for comparable specs, the only available US-made options are high-end brands that come with high-end price tags. Eastman brings the same materials and strong build quality at prices working musicians can afford.
The Eastman MD-815 is a professional-level mandolin with a solid Adirondack Spruce top and Flame Maple back and sides. Its classic F-style design delivers powerful, warm ringing tones with excellent projection. It is a deluxe mandolin with an adjustable Ebony bridge, Ebony fingerboard, and radius-ed fingerboard.
This Eastman mandolin was made in 2014, and it has the model designation "MD-815-PGH-HB" so it is the Honey Burst finish (HB) with an Ebony pickguard (PGH). Under the hood, it has a factory installed Schertler pickup, so it's ready for the stage, too. Head's up—it's not an particularly high-output pickup, so you'll probably want to use a preamp to get the most out of your signal.
Over the years, this MD-815 has been played, and while it shows some general play wear, it is free of severe scratches, scuffs, dings, or other cosmetic damage. The previous owner added an Ebony armrest, which is 100% removable. But should you remove it, it does show a some rash underneath. As far as setup is concerned, this MD-815 plays like a boutique, handmade instrument 10x the price, and it has the tone to match! Hardshell case included.
