Since the early '50s, the Fender Telecaster has remained a simple, yet effective design that delivers iconic tone. There's a reason why players of all genres gravitate towards the Telecaster—its tone is transparent, dynamic, and straightforward. It seems to do everything well. While there have been somes variations in both neck and bridge designs (as well as subtle cosmetic changes), the Telecaster has remained recognizable and practically unchanged since the early '50s.

The American Standard Telecaster is a faithful modern interpretation of Leo's design, and over the years, Fender has offered a number of "Factory Special Run" Limited Editions. This FSR "Hand Stained Ash" American Telecaster was made in 2012 and part of a run limited to 250 guitars. It features the standard specs but with an Ash body finished in hand-rubbed Mahogany stain.

Because of the thin satin finish, this 2012 Hand Stained Ash Tele is worn in all the right places, particularly in between the bridge pickup and switch. Because of the thin finish, there is some general wear and tear all around (see photos), it doesn't show any signs of carelessness or abuse. Overall, the finish gives it more character and vibe than you typically expect from an American Standard.

The Medium "C" neck feels smooth and fast, and the current setup is nice and low. It's a great player with cool vibe. American Tele pickups do the trick nicely. It has the traditional 3-way switch / volume / tone configuration, and it delivers classic Tele tone. The previous owner replaced the original pickguard with a faux wood grain guard (included), but we thought a genuine Fender American pickguard was a better fit. Original molded plastic case included.
