Proudly made in the USA, the Goodtime Americana is the first 5-string banjo from Deering to feature their new Grand 12” rim, which gives the banjo stronger bass response and warmer tone overall. As a result, the Goodtime Americana is a natural choice for old-time and clawhammer playing or vocal accompaniment.

Continuing the long standing Goodtime philosophy of offering the best value American-made banjos on the market, the Americana is the lowest priced 12” model available, and it sports the distinctive natural blonde Goodtime finish. The full, warm tone of the larger rim is further enhanced by a 12” Renaissance head which beautifully complements the banjo both visually and sonically. Like the rest of Goodtime line, this banjo also features accurate guitar-style tuners, a rock maple neck, nickel plated hardware, and hardwood "Bowtie" inlays.

Played with an old time style technique, the Americana is reminiscent of banjos from a period when larger rims were more prevalent. A traditional 11” banjo with a frosted top head has a far brighter sound and will “cut” more, but that's not always preferred for old-time playing. By comparison, the combination of the Grand 12” rim and the Renaissance head makes for a wonderfully laid back sound, so the Americana can be the perfect banjo to back up a vocalist or another instrument, too.

We ordered this Goodtime Americana with the Scooped Neck option for old-time frailing and clawhammer styles. It's a fitting option on an open-back banjo like this, and it frees up the neck past the 17th fret to access the warmer sounds of the banjo register.

Take a walk on the wide side with the new Deering Goodtime Americana banjo. Keep calm and frail on!

This banjo does not include a case or gig bag, but we've got Deering's "Deluxe Eagle" gig bags available for $75.
