It has been a few decades since Martin offered a true Style-17 guitar—that is, a simplified all-mahogany option built to the same spec level as the iconic Standard Series. But with the refreshed 2025 Standard Series, the D-17 is included in the lineup, and this new model is excellent addition the line.

This 14-fret Dreadnought is constructed with a Mahogany top, back, and sides. It has a satin finish and no binding (almost like the more recent 15 Series), but the D-17 features a Nazareth-PA dovetail neck joint and Golden Era Scalloped Spruce X-Bracing under the hood. This is the same bracing used on more expensive D-18s and D-28s, and it helps the model consistently deliver vintage-inspired tone and sustain. The D-17 is a proper Martin dreadnought!

This D-17 delivers a powerful, dynamic sound with the warm richness of Mahogany. It has an open sound with clear articulation that complements the woody Mahogany depth. With an Ebony bridge and Ebony fingerboard, this stripped-down dreadnought its still built to the same level as the Standard Series. Understated and elegant, this mahogany dread is sure to impress! It includes a hardshell case.
