The Martin DC-16E is a versatile acoustic-electric guitar with the powerful tone of a dreadnought and the comfortable depth of a 000-body. It also features a cutaway for enhanced access into the upper register. This DC-16E boasts a unique wood complement: a Sitka Spruce top with American Sycamore back and sides. As a tonewood, Sycamore falls somewhere between Mahogany and Maple. The tone of this DC-16E is bright and singing with nice definition across the full register. The bass is definitely there—thanks to the dreadnought shape—but the overall tone definitely leans toward the brighter end of the spectrum, very similar to Maple. Unlike Maple, though, the treble notes are not overly washy and glassy—they remain nicely defined and clear. Also, this guitar has forward-shifted X-bracing, so it is nicely responsive and follows your picking dynamics. Outfitted with the cutting-edge Fishman Matrix VT Enhance pickup system, this DC-16E doesn't disappoint plugged in, so you'll have plenty of confidence on the stage or in the studio. When you add unique high-end appointments such as silver binding, diamond inlays, orange/white top purfling, silver vintage style "C.F. Martin" decal, and satin pearl open gear tuners, the Martin DC-16E looks as beautiful as it sounds.
This 2017 Martin DC-16E (#2081182) is new old stock, and it still includes the Martin warranty. It has a small bit of pickwear by the cutaway, and there's a tiny bump on the edge of the headstock (see photos), but it is otherwise pristine. Since it's not quite 100%, we are offering it at a reduced "Scratch & Dent" price.
