Legend has it John Lennon and George Harrison purchased the first two J-160Es shipped to the UK. While George would go on to play many other guitars, John used his J-160E extensively throughout the rest of his career. The Epiphone EJ-160E is a tribute to John's treasured acoustic-electric Gibson, but it's not merely a replica of the original. In many ways, the model packages one pf the legend's favorite instruments in a modern, highly-usable creation.

The EJ-160E starts with a classic slope-shoulder dreadnought body design, and like the original J-160E, its body meets the neck at the 15th fret instead of the 14th. It features a solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Just like John's old Gibson, it has a magnetic pickup mounted directly under the top, just above the sound hole. On the top, you've got volume and tone controls just like an electric guitar.

This 2007 Epiphone EJ-160E is in nice condition all around. It shows some signs of play and use, but it is free of any severe dings, bumps, scratches, or bruises. Its saddle has been replaced with a bone saddle that is compensated, and it is currently set up nice and low with flat-wound strings. Flat wounds or other nickel-wound strings provide better string balance plugged-in than bronze acoustic strings, which are less magnetic. This EJ-160E includes its original hardshell case, which is a bit more worn than the guitar. Nevertheless, it still functions as it should, and it protects this cool, collectible guitar as it should.

Much like the original, the EJ-160E toes the line between acoustic and electric.  It has a slim neck profile that is extremely playability, and it captures the vibe and aesthetic of John's trusty Gibson icon.
